So, uh… yeah. Chapter 9 didn’t seem to go over that well. This makes me sad.

You know, it’s weird, because when I reviewed it before posting, I was so obsessed with studying whether or not the events were plausible that I didn’t focus very much on how entertaining it was to read. I must confess that in my personal opinion as author, the first half of the chapter was epic. I loved Hero and Olivia on that hill, and I loved their first kiss. I wish it had gotten more commentary.

Anyway, as promised, this chapter answers a lot of questions. I hope a lot of curiosities are satisfied. (Is that a proper use of the word ‘curiosities?’ I hope so.)

Oh my God you guys, I am ridiculous.

I was absolutely FREAKING OUT that I wouldn’t have this chapter done in time, and was ripping my hair out this morning trying to fill in the gaps to make sure I had it polished and ready for you guys tonight. Once I was approaching the final paragraph, I finally decided to check my word count — and I was at 6,300 words. Just to give you a frame of reference, the average novel chapter is about 3,300 words. I had pretty much finished two chapters.

So, because of that, next weeks chapter is already pretty much done.

And I think it’s all for the best, to be honest. A LOT goes on in chapters 9-10… I would call them the “full disclosure” chapters. Every question you have floating over your head is going to be answered tonight and next week. What happened with Hero and Kai’lah? Why did the Blades really split with the Dragons? What the heck is up with Stone? All will be revealed.

OOOH! One more thing. I have a radio interview in October. I’ll talk about it more when the time creeps on closer, but for now get ready if you have any questions you want to ask on air or whatev.

Chapter 8 is up!

I have about a million things to say about this chapter, I don’t even know where to start. Maybe I should just leave it s a surprise!

This is my longest chapter, like, ever… so for those of you who complain that my chapters are too short, uh, you’re in luck. I guess.

Chapter 8

Forum

First off, I want to thank you all for making CT such a huge success. I was really terrified of doing this, but thanks to the support from my family, friends, and readers, I got off my lazy butt and made this happen  — and I couldn’t have done it without you all! *hugs!*

That said, the WordPress format makes it very awkward to respond to all of your wonderful comments. It doesn’t have the individual reply setup that LiveJournal has, so it isn’t as obvious that I’m reading all of your comments – which I am, every single word.

I don’t want you to think I don’t care when I don’t respond to all you have to say, so if you post on the forum, you’re pretty much guaranteed a personal response. One of my favorite things about posting on LJ was the discussion that took place, so I created a new forum there entitled Story Discussion, where you can post your more specific questions and comments and I can address them personally – or you can talk amongst yourselves!

One more thing about the forum – I get swarmed with bogus, spam accounts, so if you chose a name like “awangehuhert” I won’t approve you. Be careful choosing your username; make sure it makes sense. I would pick your LJ username—I’ll recognize it and then I’m sure to approve you. (And after you sign up don’t forget to introduce yourself!)

WOOHOO!!

Normally I would have waited a day, but considering both of the last two chapters were late, I thought I owed you guys one. It’s done, so here ya go!

I experimented a bit with this chapter. I’ve talked to a couple pros who told me that I lack the ability to “summarize” (which explains the original CT being three books long). The original story had no summaries at all – it was pretty much in real time. Twenty chapters spanned a little over a week, and I think at one point three chapters covered one day. This chapter is a little different. In fact, it covers a little over a week. I’ve never really written this way before, so let me know how I did.

Also, just because I want to put this baby to bed right now – Pansy is not Ahyoung and Kai’lah is NOT Hyunjin. I realize a lot of people are going to connect these new names with old characters, but these new characters aren’t based on any specific fic counterparts.

And on that note… please… I beg of you all, stop referring to ChasingTaboo.com as a fanfic. It is not a fanfic. Forgive me if I sound rash, but the whole purpose of this was to separate CT from the fandom, and every time someone refers to it as a fanfic it’s, well, kind of like a constantly shrieking smoke alarm. Thanks for understanding and I still love you all.

Sorry for the delay – thank you for your patience!

I’m really excited about this chapter for a variety of reasons. For one, it includes two of my favorite scenes from the original CT with fun and interesting twists. (I’ll put it one way – Olivia makes the complete opposite decision about something this time.) Also, this is the longest chapter I think I’ve ever written for anything CT related.
