I miss you guys so much!!

You have no idea.

My internet/computer situation at my new apartment isn’t totally stable. The wireless here is free, but it’s not the most reliable, and I can’t afford to get better service at the moment. Right now I’m on my laptop, but my sister and I are working at getting my desktop in tip top shape. My stuff is in piles behind me.

This weekend I’ll be working at the Thin Line Film Festival, so once again, not a lot of CT. I’m freaking out, because I am SO excited about the upcoming chapter and I want to share it with you all so much! Prepare yourself for a couple of major moments from the original story.

Once my situation over here settles down, my bedroom looks like a bedroom (at the moment, lol, no bed!) I’ll get a stable routine and start writing again. Thank you all for your patience.

Moving…

Posted in My Non-Existent Personal Life, Site Updates on February 1st, 2010 by tohosexy

So my sister and I got an apartment. Wee! That means there’s going to be a lot of, well, moving. Computer switching, software installing, all the while trying to stay afloat at work and in school. CT has been moved to a low priority.

The new chapter has been reworked a few times, and I’d say it’s 2/3 done. The outline for the new story has been tightened and completed, and I’m excited to see what you all think of the new story.

Thanks for your patience!

Merry Christmas from Chasing Taboo

Merry Christmas everybody!

Sorry for the update delay. The upcoming chapter is about halfway done… expect a twist!

I have a new Twitter account, so if I were you I would stop following my current one and click on the new link in my signature.

I hope you all are having an epic holiday. I know I am! I got a fantastic webcam, so I may be posting my blogs in video form from now on.

(Dude… TVXQ beat Christmas as a trending topic this morning! Merry Christmas, indeed!)

Linz's Vain Cell Phone Self-Portraits, October 2009

So, yeah… about those every-other-week updates… *awkward apologetic half smile.*

When I wrote the original Chasing Taboo, I never made any promises regarding when the next update was going to come. They just sort of showed up–sometimes it took a couple days, sometimes a couple weeks. When approaching the new story, I wanted to be more professional and guarantee specific update times, but I’ve learned that this doesn’t work for me. I’m really sorry!

From now on all I can say is that I’ll update when I can.  This morning, I woke up in a bad mood knowing I was going to have to haul ass to tighten the new chapter in time for tonight, and Chasing Taboo shouldn’t make me feel like this. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seriously considered throwing my arms in the air and announcing that I can’t to this — but why give up when I can make this one simple change? In a world where so many deadlines can’t be controlled, I can’t let a deadline I made up control my life, so from now on, just stay on top of your inbox and every once and a while a nice little email will show up telling you that Olivia is up to no good once again.

On a happier note, I made a Chasing Taboo radio commercial for my audio class and I got an A+!

Another happy note! I will be appearing on the Glass of Win Variety Show this Wednesday night! Please make sure to call in and bother me with questions!

I apologize for the vain self portraits at the top of this page, but I looked hot yesterday for no one and by God someone had to see me! I was totally stoked because I was going to make my debut as a vocalist at UTA, but alas, the show got rained out and it was cancelled. (Me and my friends ending up getting Korean BBQ instead. We took pictures, I’ll post them as soon as I can.) Did you guys know I sing? If not, check out my MySpace.

Oh, yeah, and I’m also a Twitter freak, in case you didn’t know.

Linzer Dinzer’s Twitter

Sorry about this whole update fuckery. I know I’ve really bitten off more than I can chew in my life, but I have trouble believing that I can’t make it work somehow. I know I’m on a brutal fitness routine (at the gym an hour and a half five days a week), I’m eating 1300 calories day, I’m working on an EP as a vocalist, I’m taking 12 credit hours, I help take care of a four year old, and I write Chasing Taboo–but is that really so much? My mother gave me a speech this morning about how I need to have some fun in my life and that I’m far too project oriented, something about how I don’t smile enough. But I feel like I’m not doing enough! Yes, I work out — but I’m not in perfect shape yet. Yes, I write music — but I still don’t have a CD. Yes, I write a book — but it’s clearly not done. There are so many girls in this world who are younger than me who have all of those things under their belt–is it so wrong that I want so badly to be one of them?

Alright. Rant over.

In closing: Please check out my music MySpace, my appearance on Glass of Win, the Chasing Taboo radio commercial, and follow me on Twitter. I’ll update ASAP! Thanks!

Chapter 12 – finally up!

Posted in My Non-Existent Personal Life, Site Updates on September 19th, 2009 by tohosexy

I hope you guys like it – I agonized over it. A lot more questions about Hero answered, particularly about his relationship with his flower ladies.

And, oh yeah, they do it in this chapter. It was hard to write – trying to make it sexy but classy but still Herolivia. You’ll see. Hopefully you’ll like it.

And quick reminder – I’m going to be on Glass of Win on October 7th.

Oh yeah! And for any of you who live in the DFW area, I’m going to be singing at UTA’s Rock The Fall October 3rd, performing the Chasing Taboo love theme for the first time ever. So if you live in or near Dallas, make an appearance!

Linz and Shaddow at VH1 Save the Music Event at Houlihans

Hello all! Just wanted to stop and say hey and fill you in on some goings-on.

I may have to bring Chasing Taboo to bi-weekly updates instead of weekly. For one, my school schedule is like omg-I’m-totally-freaking-out-with-this-workload, and I’d rather make the chapters better by taking longer to post them than post shitty stress-fueled pieces of crap. We all remember the chapter 5 disaster, let’s not repeat such a mistake.

Next, the picture above shows myself and my label-head, Shaddow, at a Vh1 event here in the Dallas area. We’re hard at work to pull together my first EP, so wish me luck!

This past weekend was Anime Fest, where I got to volunteer at JPopHouse and talk to con-goers about awesome J-Rock. It was a rad experience–and I even gave a Chasing Taboo fan an autograph. An autograph!! 0_0 I felt so famous. It was funny to hear someone talk about Ace and Stone in person. (Thanks, Kat! I’ll never forget you!) I also recorded my first online radio appearance during the con, for Gaijin Kanpai. Check it out and listen! You’ll hear me ramble about hide, TVXQ, and Miyavi, along with shameless promotion for Chasing Taboo.

And one more order of business.

We’re all waiting for it. You–me–everybody. So when is it going to happen?

When are Hero and Olivia going to have sex??

I’m not going to lie, the rest of the story is outlined and I know what’s going to happen and how this shit is going to end. That said, everything could change depending on your input, what I had to eat that day–whatever. This is a fluid thing. So I want your input.

Should the first smut scene be romantic and meaningful? Or smutty, dirty, and raunchy? What would you prefer? (And no, I’m not going to tell you what I already have planned.) I’m curious.

Thanks for reading! :D

Chapter 6 – Delayed One Day

Posted in My Non-Existent Personal Life, Site Updates on August 2nd, 2009 by tohosexy

Chapter six will be delayed one day, until tomorrow.

Just a heads up. Sorry, I’d rather have a good chapter that’s one day late than a bad chapter I rushed to be on time. Thanks for your patience! I’m about a thousand words away – look forward to it!

And for those of you who discovered Chasing Taboo because of your familiarity with Korean pop, I’ve entered the Seoul Infinite Dream Concert contest.

Chasing Taboo is BACK – and I am an updating FIEND!

First off, thank you all for your patience through my brief hiatus. I needed some time to adjust to a totally different lifestyle around here, but writing is still my number one passion.

On that note, thank you to all of my new readers! Thank you for signing up on my mailing list, you secret secrety readers you, but comment once and a while, would ya!? (You too, old schoolers who don’t comment, you know who you are!)

I hope you all enjoy what I’ve tried to accomplish with the new chapter 5 – you should find it’s a vast improvement from the original, and you may even notice some old school CT moment are starting to rear the ugly (or sexy) heads…

Enjoy and please comment! I feed on response, and I’m starving!

Chapter 5 and Anime Expo

Posted in My Non-Existent Personal Life, Site Updates on July 7th, 2009 by tohosexy

Okay… so I’m about to make the most controversial decision I’ve ever made in the history of the new Chasing Taboo. (Well, technically speaking, I’ve already made the decision I’m just gonna, ya know, announce it.)

I am pulling Chapter 5. The real Chapter 5 shall be posted on Sunday.

Why am I doing this? Well, I’ve been really freaking busy and I totally rushed that chapter. I’m more than unhappy with it, to be blunt. The fundamentals will be the same, but Seneka’s Little Mermaid "Daddy, I love him!" bit has got to go.

Why so busy? Well, first of all I went to Anime Expo from Wednesday to Monday, and fell into a full time position the moment I got off the plane. What position, you may inquire? I have to make sure my sister’s four year old daughter stays happy and doesn’t die for a few months. I watched the Tinkerbell movie four times today, and the only reason I have time to write this entry is because she passed out about halfway through The Little Mermaid.

The creature... she slumbers.

Anime Expo was freaking amazingly motherfucking awesome. My job was to bridge the gap between the bands and the tech guys during the Battle of the Bands contest, and before I got there, I was pretty horrified. My division head had told me a while in advance that my job was to be the liason to the Japanese guest band, auncia, and I’ve never actually worked with a Japanese band before so I prepared myself for the worst. I speak no Japanese, not at all, and I had no idea how much English the band knew — and I totally knew how it was going to start out. I was going to get thrown into the shark tank and expected to know how to swim. When Carl, the head of the main events room told me, "Hey, the band is in the back and we ran over schedule because of the Moi dix Mois concert. I heard they’re mad. Could you go handle that?" Uh, yeah, imagine if that was said to you, and that’s pretty much how I felt.

But not only was the band not mad — they weren’t there at all, and when I eventually met them and their American label, we got along swimmingly. The guys were all super cool and we got the show together in a jiff! In fact, due to a scheduling conflict, we had to start our sound check an hour and a half late — but did the show start on time? Why, yes, it did, and Carl started referring to be as "wonder woman" ever since. I get things started on time. It’s my way.

The Battle of the Bands Audience

But that was just the first day, my friends. Because of Battle of the Bands, I wasn’t assigned to my normal event, the Pop Shock Masquerade (the cosplay event for non-anime j-pop culture costumes), so it was put in the hands of another AX staffer, and I was only expected to be there to help MC the event. During the day I hung out with my best friend Sheila in Little Tokyo and showed up at the Cosplay office an hour before showtime. What I didn’t realize was that the staffer assigned to the event was nowhere to be found, and I ended up having that hour to pull the show together. All I had was a stack of waiver forms as another staffer (a good friend of mine of 8 years btw) had to organize audio for an event he didn’t understand. Did we pull it off? Of course we did! (I’m not going to claim to know why the original coordinator couldn’t get what we needed done, but that’s not the point, I’m not going to point fingers — the point is the show was a success!)

Linz celebrates with Hard Gay

Does it end there? Of course not! That just wraps up Day 2! That evening, things got even more intense. Me, Patrick, and Carlo — technically, AX Idol staffers — were on our way to a party at the Marriott when we bumped into this drunk Chinese guy (I’m guessing Chinese — possibly Korean, but definitely not Japanese) who was waaaay too wasted to find his room. We walked him up there, and he was so thankful he tipped us 100 dollars. That’s right, a solid hundred dollar bill. We tried to give it back to him multiple times, but he refused. Patrick tucked it into the guy’s back pocket, but the guy chased after us and insisted we take it, locking himself out of his room in the process. We called security to have them send someone up, meanwhile a busser was walking by the drunk guy.

"Hey, I’m locked out of my room!" called Drunk Guy.

"Call security, man," said the busser under an impatient breath, and he walked right past us.

Drunk guy then announced what a "fucking asshole" that guy was, talking about how the guy worked there and should have helped him, and then he called security himself to repeat himself over and over again. "That guy was a fucking asshole, he should have helped me, he workes here. He was a fucking asshole." Then he hung up, squeezed his brow, and confided in us with how he really felt — "That guy was a fucking asshole."

We interrogated him over whether he could afford to give us this hundred dollars, during which time we acquired the following pieces of information: He was a CPA, he had lots of credit cards, he had twenty dollars cash left over in his wallet, he had a phone number for a Korean escort service, and he had spent 3000 dollars at a bar earlier that night — possibly because his wife had left him. When security came to open the door to his hotel room, there was a crib inside it.

He wouldn’t take the money no matter how hard we tried, so Patrick’s plan was to return the next morning before AX Idol and offer the money to the man while he was sober. Patrick did this, and the man didn’t recognize him, but once again insisted that we keep the money. Back stage at AX Idol we discussed it — what were we going to do with this money??

Then I had a brilliant, beyond brilliant idea.

We kept talking about what we were going to do with it as in what were we going to spend it on — but then I thought there were more things you could do with money than spend it. Why not take pictures of the money with as many people as possible? Cosplayers, celebs, guest of honor — let’s treat the money like the Travelocity gnome! So we did!

First off, here we are — Team Benjamin — rocking our special gift for our kindness to a stranger.

Carlo, Linz, and Patrick

Here’s me, Patrick, and Benjamin — with auncia, our guest band from Japan! Tatsuki, the vocalist, is holding Benjamin. (Tatsuki kissed my hand at Battle of the Bands. *dies of the cuteness*)

Here’s Matt as Darth Maul with Benjamin. He was a contestant in AX Idol.

And in accordance to the wishes of Drunk Guy… here’s how we spent the money. (Say, look at that swell T-shirt!)

Kamakazis!

There are waaaay more pictures of Benjamin… but I want to save them for a video slideshow! I already miss my boys and auncia so much!

Anyway, more details and pimping.

JSHOXX brought auncia over for Anime Expo, and both they and auncia were amazing. Note: My favorite auncia songs are Koi Monogatari, maiden, and iys off their Beeauty & Slime album – JSHOXX Official Website

Were it not for Tomo Asaha of Echostream and the nice ladies of Askew Magazine, I may have peed my pants before the auncia signing. Tomo, thank you for your hotel key card! I thank by linking. – Tomo Asaha on MySpaceAskew Magazine

Okay, that’s enough of that. Time for Me to wrap up this entry. Expect a way better chapter 5 on Sunday!
